Make an appointment to come to the library and read a book or two (or more if you like!) and record it on DVD or VHS. If you are deploying, you can simply leave these taped messages with your children or mail them back for regular family reading sessions. If you don’t have the time before you leave, a similar setup will be available to you downrange. Practice your reading voices!
