About

April 1952
A library of 200 books under a tent because Camp Darby was under construction.
November 1952
Col. Vissering assigned the library a room in the second building to be completed at Camp Darby. The collection contained approximately 2,000 books. Also, there was another library room at teh Hotel Corallo in Livorno where teh Camp Darby Headquarters had offices.
1954
All the books were moved to Camp Darby to establish the first formal post library. There was space not only for a greater number of books but also for a small music room and work room for cataloging and filing.
1980
The library grew to include 22,000 books (including 250 reference books), 130 periodicals, musical and language records, cassettes and art reproductions.
November 2010
The library reopens after a year long renovation and expansion project. Current collection includes over 22,000 books, 1,100 movies, and over 2,200 music CDs in all genres.
